A Heritage Ranch

Generations upon generations have cowboyed here, working cattle, working the land. Feeding logging camps and miners. Laughing, loving, living large. Homesteaded nearly a century ago this land has seen Franklin Roosevelt's Civilian Conservation Corp come and go, prayed through World War Two, marveled at the Space Race, and through it all kept on cowboying. No matter how fast the world turns, the seasons abide; springtime and summer, fall and winter. The snows fall, the grass returns, the wind sighing through the pines, cattle lowing in the moonlight. Returning the wave as folks salute you when you go by, sharing the warm friendship of neighbors, it is a rare privilege to live in such a place and bea able to call it home.

The climate is invigorating. Sunny days all year ‘round. In fact most winter days are filled with glorious, bright sunshine. The mean average solar gain on solar panels is 4 - 5 hours per day. So a 3 kilowatt panel installation could produce 15 kilowatts per day of free electricity. The organic grass fed beef on our land produces a lot of smiles around the table. Morning coffee made with fresh, sweet mountain water from the tap - not from a bottle.

Nearer to Paradise

I have owned this ranch since the turn of the century. We run 50 to 75 heifers with their calves, or about 150 head of cattle every year on our lush Timothy hay. There is a peace here and a happiness that transcends mere words. It's a wonderful place to raise children. A great place to put in perspective those things that are most valuable and worthwhile in this short life.

At A double J Livestock we enjoy "End of Road" type of privacy on a homestead that is a working cattle operation with a stocking rate of 50 to 75 AUM and a hay yield 150+ tons, or it would be ideal for a Guest Ranch, Bed & Breakfast, or Youth Camp, or Hunting Lodge. Situated only 5 miles from Palouse Divide Lodge ( the former North South Ski Bowl )where there are hundreds of miles of Cross Country Skiing through the surrounding White Pine National Forest. The ranch is located in the middle of the best hunting in the Northern Rockies; Elk, Moose, Deer, and Turkey are routinely seen on the property. Strategically located between Spokane & Coeur d'Alene to the north and Moscow / Pullman & Lewiston / Clarkston to the south. Close to Lake Coeur d'Alene - Fishing, Water Skiing, Sailing. Easy distance to the Coeur d'Alene Tribe’s Casino and Championship Golf Courses.
